The former BP petrol filling station on London Road has now been sold.
Durlings initially acquired this site for a London-based property development client in 2014. We then nominated and worked alongside Open Architecture to provide advice on the design proposal.
After pre-application advice from Tunbridge Wells Borough Council`s planning department, consent was granted, within a 6 month period, for the demolition of the existing building and the construction of nine luxury apartments complete with underground parking.
After extensive marketing of the site, with the benefit of this consent, at a guide price of £1,000,000, it was ultimately sold to Amberley Homes.
This prime site is in the heart of Tunbridge Wells, adjacent to The Common, and opposite the fashionable High Street and “Village Area”. It has easy access to shops, restaurants and the railway station which will undoubtedly add to the appeal of the development.
Being able to bring a “ready to go” development opportunity to the market is rare in Tunbridge Wells and so we weren’t surprised by the level of interest received from both local and regional developers. We now hope that work will start on the site in the near future, which will result in one less GrotSpot in the town.
